RGS and Sobeys Open Their Distribution Centre
Ryder Grocer Services (RGS) has just opened its 420,000-square-foot multi-temperature distribution centre in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

RGS will employ an estimated 300 people and distribute food products for Sobeys, which owns the new distribution centre, to support corporate and franchise stores operating in eastern Ontario.
The facility is to be in full operation in January 2000, operating on a 24-hour, seven-day week schedule. Sobeys Inc. is the second largest Canadian food distributor.
Schenker Launches Canada/U.S. Customs Clearance Service
The Schenker Group has recently opened a Customs Clearance office in Buffalo, offering southbound service into the United States from its new facility on site at the Peace Bridge.
This service includes transborder transportation ranging from LTL to trailer-load movements and customs movements and clearance into either the United States or Canada, stated Keith Hart, Schenker Canada Vice President, who characterizes the service as a complete one-source northbound and southbound service.
