Richard Armstrong is a third-party logistics expert who specializes in supply chain evaluation and outsourcing. Dick is the co-editor and publisher of Who's Who In Logistics? ArmB's Guide to Global Supply Chain Management. He has over 20 years experience as a consultant, educator and motor carrier executive. He is licensed to practice before FMCSA and FMC. His publications cover the globalization of logistics, supply chain management, transportation operating efficiency and DOT regulations. David J. Closs, Ph.D., LQ Executive Editor. Dr. Closs is the John H. McConnell Chaired Professor of the Eli Broad College of Business, Department of Marketing and Supply Chain management, Michigan State university. He has consulted with more than 100 of the world’s Fortune 500 corporations regarding logistics strategies and systems. He is an active member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). Lieutenant-Colonel Conrad Lieutenant Colonel Conrad has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Masters in Defence Studies from the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario. He was commissioned as a Naval Officer (MARS) in 1987. After retraining as an army combat logistics officer he has served in virtually every command billet possible in 1 Service Battalion in Western Canada from platoon commander to Commanding Officer in 2005-2006. Over half of his career has been spent with the Army of the West in 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. Subsequent postings have included a year on Atlantic Area Staff in Halifax, a year at Army Doctrine in Kingston as well as the G4 (Principle Staff officer for Logistics) for HQ Land Forces Central Area in Toronto. He has served in late 2006 to May 2007 as an instructor at the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College, and is currently serving on the faculty of the Canadian forces College in Toronto, Ontario. Lieutenant Colonel Conrad has previous operational experience in Cambodia (Mar to Nov 1993) with UNTAC and North West Bosnia (Mar to Sep 2000) with SFOR. Most recently he has completed a tour as the Commanding Officer of the National Support Element, the logistics battalion responsible for sustaining the Canadian Task Force in Southern Afghanistan from February to August 2006 Operation Archer/US Operation Enduring Freedom). He is married to Martha Rutherford Conrad and has four children Aidan (12), Morgan (9), Harriet (7) and Grace (5). Jim Davidson, President, iWheels dedicated Logistics, began his career in logistics at The Ford Motor Company in 1963 working in all aspects of logistics for 17 years. Mr. Davidson joined TNT in 1983 and held various management roles, including roles in operations, staff, administration and general management for a number of different divisions. He also served as the TNT board member representing North America at their European-based board meetings. He has served on the executive of the Canadian General Motors Supplier council as well as Executive Vice President of the ATA council of Logistics located in Alexandria, VA. Jeffrey Gallant, Vice President Procurement, Bell Canada.
Mr. Gallant has responsibility for all direct and indirect procurement
activities, including sourcing, category management, eProcurement and policy
development for the $19B telecommunications company. He drove the
procurement transformation process by implementing an efficient procure to pay
process, B tool utilization and a standard sourcing discipline. Claude Germain is a successful entrepreneur and executive in the field of logistics and logistics technology, Claude Germain joined Schenker as EVP and COO, accountable for the Canadian P&L, in 2005. Schenker is one of the largest logistics service providers in Canada, with sales approaching $500MM. Prior to Schenker, Claude was CEO and Founder of Cube Route in 2003. Cube Route is an on demand software firm specializing in last mile logistics and was named on of the Top 25 start-ups in Canada in 2004. It has over 35 clients across North America, and has raised close to $15MM in equity financing. As the former Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Grocery Gateway Inc; President of the operating division for PEP International Logistics; and a management consultant, specializing in distribution, for The Boston Consulting Group, Claude has extensive experience in building successful logistics organizations. In 2002, Claude and the management team at Grocery Gateway received the Top Logistics Company in Canada award. Claude holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering in Nuclear Physics from Queen's University. Greg Hewitt, Senior Vice President - Commercial, DHL Express (Canada). He is responsible for leading the commercial team including sales, customer service and marketing personnel. Greg oversees all aspects of revenue generation and sets the annual shipment and yield targets for the company as it continues to aggressively expand its business in the Canadian express and logistics market. Greg brings extensive logistics and courier industry experience to his
current role. He joined Loomis Courier Service sales team in 1993, and quickly
rose to the role of Regional Director of Sales for Eastern Canada. When Loomis
restructured and rebranded as Mayne Logistics Loomis in 2001, he was named
National Sales Manager, and the following year, was promoted to Vice President -
Sales, Marketing Arun Kumar serves as Director of Americas Logistics at Dell, Inc. and is based in Austin, TX. In this capacity, Arun is responsible for logistics and distribution activities of finished goods, OEM, 3rd Party and service parts to the U.S. Canada, Mexico and 45 Latin American countries. In his role at Dell he impacts positive customer experience by providing best in class service delivery of 70 Million shipments annually to both enterprise and residential segments and an improved reverse logistics program to enable faster credit to customers. His supply chain process improvement effort have generated significant cost savings, reduced cycle time and improved customer delivery experience. He has over eighteen years of senior management experience in global logistics, transportation, distribution and fulfillment. Prior to joining Dell, Mr. Kumar served as Vice President at NextLinx Corporation. In addition, Arun's career includes a14-year tenure at FedEx Express, where he served as Managing Director of the Indian sub -continent and Managing Director of Operations Support for National Hub Operations. He is a recipient of the highest leadership award, the 5 Star, at FedEx. He received a ME degree in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University, Norfolk VA and a BE degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University, India. As an active sportsman he represented India in international Table Tennis tournaments and was also highly ranked in the US in the 1980s. He has served as the President of the Council of Logistics Management for Central Texas and is on the board of Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce. Clifford F. Lynch of C.F. Lynch & Associates has provided management advisory services in logistics since 1993. During the previous 35 years, he was Vice President, Logistics, for the Quaker Oats Company and President of Trammell Crow Distribution corporation. Mr. Lynch holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Member of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics and is a member the editorial review boards of the Journal of Business Logistics, the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, and Supply Chain management Review. He is also a member of the Warehousing Education and Research Council and the Advisory Council to the Dean, College of business administration, University of Tennessee.
Mr. Lynch is a member and past president of the Council of Logistics Management and has received numerous awards in the field of logistics. Among them are the CLM distinguished Service Award, the Traffic Management magazine Professional Achievement Award, the University of Tennessee Department of Marketing and transportation distinguished Alumnus and the President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the American Society of Transportation and Logistics.
He is an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis, a frequent lecturer at other colleges and universities, an author of numerous articles on the subject of logistics and has written two books on logistics outsourcing.
Edward P. McGuire is a Managing Director in the BMO
Capital Markets Commercial & Industrial Group, where he specializes in the
transportation sector. Based in Chicago, he has more than 21 years of experience
arranging leveraged finance, M&A transactions, asset securitizations and project
financings for BMO Capital Markets. Edward has arranged over USD $1 billion in
transactions for BMO's Transportation Group. Prior to joining BMO Capital
Markets, he was the Chief Financial Officer of a privately held, Chicago-based,
general equipment leasing company. Nikhil Sathe is educated in American CPA and an MBA from Queens School of Business in Canada and has more than 20 years of international experience in P & L management and Finance. Nikhil has more than 12 years of increasing responsibility and expertise in financial and risk management in transportation, freight forwarding and logistics industry in South Africa and North America. Currently CFO of Kelron Logistics, a fast paced and high growth potential 3PL adjudged by Inbound Logistics amongst the top 100 3PL's in North America. This year Nikhil has contributed as a panelist in the TLC Conference in Orlando and 5th Eyefortransport 3PL Summit in Atlanta and as a speaker in SCL (Supply Chain and Logistics Canada) on Risk Management and Carrier Compliance. Nicholas Seiersen, B.Sc.(Hons.), M.B.A., P.Log, LQ Executive Editor, is a Senior Manager with KPMG, based in Toronto, Ontario. He specializes in Supply Chain consulting, with particular attention to Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Planning & Operations. Mr. Seiersen is the Canadian Service Line lead for Operations Cost Management at KPMG. Mr. Seiersen holds a B.Sc. (hons.) in Biochemistry and an M.B.A. in Industrial Management. He teaches executive development courses at top universities in Europe and North America. He has written for numerous publications in North America and Europe on ePurchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Cost-to-Serve. He is the past President of the Toronto Roundtable of the Council of Logistics Management, (now CSCMP), Vice president of the French Logistics Association (ASLOG), and a member of the European Logistics Association Business management committee. Walter Zinn, Ph.D., Ohio State University,Ohio State University, Professor Zinn's research interests focus primarily on the impact of customer service policies on the determination of safety stocks. As part of this focus, his research addresses issues such as the effects of inventory centralization and sales forecasting on safety stocks, logistics partnerships and, more recently, consumer reactions to stockouts. Professor Zinn is also interested in logistics issues in Latin America and received a logistics innovation award from the Latin American Logistics Center. His research has been published in such academic journals as the Journal of Business Logistics, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, The International Journal of Logistics Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Business Horizons. Professor Zinn is also a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Business Logistics and The International Journal of Logistics Management. He recently completed two studies for the World Bank, both discussing supply chain management problems generated by imperfections in public policy, and works regularly with the business community as a speaker at logistics conferences and meetings in the United States, Brazil and other countries in Latin America.
